Natural Steps to Healing and Health

Natural Steps to Healing, by Chris Barrett

This information is intended as a documentary on a range of things people have chosen to do when confronted by serious illness.

Cancer or any serious illness: Diseases seldom attack a healthy body. What this means is that being diagnosed with serious illness or cancer is also a diagnosis that our body is out of balance.

Secondly, cancer and serious illness is not necessarily a death sentence, but a challenge to reverse the processes that allowed the cancer to take hold.

Authur Brownstein, MD, in his book Extraordinary Healing notes that:

"Nobody gets sick by accident, or out of the blue. If you take a closer look at the factors that govern your health, you will discern that illness does not strike randomly. Disease and illness, with very few excptions, occur at predictable times, and for discernible reasons."

The imbalances or processes that cause them may be in one, or many areas of our lives. For example it may be our diet and health practices, our stress levels, our attitude and thought processes, or our environment and overall lifestyle. It may be a combination of several things.

So in order to treat serious illness, or cancer, and move to a happy, fulfilling life, you must address the underlying causes and reverse these processes. Failure to do this contributes to the frequency of illnesses returning.

Many have discovered that it is important not to attempt overcoming these diseases with one method, supplement or change. It was more often a “package deal” that got them to where they were, and it took a package deal that them beyond it.

This information is based on a combination of my own observations, and reading, plus resources from many excellent web sites. The ones I am most heavily indebted to are listed at the end. I have been selective in what I have pulled together from my research. There is no end to ideas, suggestions, and “cures” documented. It can become very confusing. You need to remember that the majority of web site information is there to sell a product.

Being there to SELL: a product is true of virtually every supplier whether on the net, or in a shop. It is perhaps just as true also of the much of the medical and drug company arena. Remember, behind every sale is a seller. Behind every customer is a need. Every patient is also a customer. It is a fine line between someone meeting your need and someone exploiting your need, and when you are searching for answers to health issues, you need to be vigilant. Your reserach and care is key to avoiding being taken advantage of. It is important to sift information very carefully. There are excellent, natural products out there. Choose carefully.

Alkalinising the system - Things People Have Done

Eating alkalinising foods where possible, foods such as green vegetables, and cabbage juice. Boiled brown rice and the liquid from it are good.

Black Cumin may increase your bone marrow production of immune cells and aid alkalinisation.

Boost the Immune System - Things People Have Done

Maroon Bush tea.

Maroon Bush, Murin Murin, Prickly Fan Flower, Currant Bush and Gurrburu tea is an Aboriginal bush medicine and has traditionally been used by Aboriginal people for the treatment of cancer, heart disease, intestinal trouble, urinary problems, kidney trouble and general illnesses. For more information on this you can see "Wajari Wisdom" by Estelle Leyland. Available from the Yamaji Center in Geraldton Western Australia

Reducing Stress and any negative response to it “Stress” is a somewhat over-killed word, however the effects of worry, anxiety, fear, pressure and the hectic pace of life are seen by many as a major contributor to ill health. I encourage you to read the section titled meditation where I document some of my own journey and recovery from stress and burnout.

Adequate sleep is very important. How much is that? Readers Digest, July 2006 page 124 & 125 quote research that suggest adults need between 7 and 9 hours per night, and if you don’t get enough you may compromise your immune system.

Eating healthy and Cancer fighting Foods

Fruit and vegetables – in an uncooked state as much as possible.

Flax Seed Oil – Kept refrigerated.  It can be mixed with other foods.

Flax seeds. Also sprouted and eaten as any other sprout.

Beetroot: This is best raw grated or as an additive to juice.

Pomegranate.  Exclellent for health, also shown to reduce PSA readings. (prostate specific antigen - indicator of cancer in prostate).

Dark Grape juice, Dark skinned grapes (some people eat the seeds as well)

Blue Berries

Other purple skinned foods you can use are: red cabbage, and purple onions,

Avocado, coconut, coconut cream/milk

Garlic

Olive Oil - Extra Virgin, un-heat processed

Brazil nuts: sprouted or soaked are a good source of selenium if grown in soils containing selenium

Almonds

Apricot kernels have been used as a cancer treatment.

Maroon Bush Tea There have been no medical trials.  Research shows anti-tumor activity (Dr P. Kerr & Prof R. Longmore, Curtin Univ. 1991, Dr P. Kerr is now at Charles Sturt University) There are no known side effects and extremely low levels of toxicity.

Papaya as a food

Many people have used the almost mature green papaw that has just begun to turn yellow inside. The used the skin, and even juiced or grated the fruit. Also mixed with salads or blend into a drink

Papaya Tea:  Here's an old recipe: "To Make:  Fill a saucepan with as many leaves as you can, cover with water and Simmer for 2 - 3 hours, drain and refrigerate the liquid. Drink one glassful three times a day." It does not taste nice, I’ve tried it!  I'm sure people began with a small dose and increased it slowly.

Supplements and Extracts - general info for today

Most of these will be available in your local health food shop, but some you will need to order in. For example Q10 and Cellular Zeolite are difficult to get in Australia. The get healthy again link: (http://www.gethealthyagain.com/products.html) will be useful here. I have also found Morlife have some excellent products and particularly like their juice powders and ginger tea.

The Nikitanatural s is also a great source of products, particularly in Australia

Omega 3

Glucosomine. I prefer the hydrochloride based form, rather than sulfide based, but mix n match. It’s a personal choice.

Vitamin C – up to 10 g per day. If you get diarrhea reduce the amount.

Pancreatin tablets or capsules. If you have nausea and weakness that seems linked to the taking of these reduce your use temporarily.

Enzyme Supplements to aid your digestion. Take these on an empty stomach before you eat. If you can, get some Betaine HCL and the HCL Activator to add to this even better.

Another Product called Cellular Zeolite, may be worth getting. Check the internet. My research suggests the powdered form is cheaper and equally effective. Zeolite is purported to be very effective in removing heavy metals, herbicides etc from the body.

Coenzyme Q10

Green tea extract  - If available.

Selenium – I know someone who cured his cancer with selenium. Because it was not available in health food shops at the time he used the selenium from the agricultural supplier made for sheep!

Vitamin E

Green Barley Powder:This is available in health food shops, or if you want a high quality one SAFE (Sustainable Agriculture and Food Enterprises) in QLD are a good source. If you would like details on this please us our contact page. You can also use the contact page at our other site: http://www.avoidglasses.com/

Legumes, nuts and whole grains: eg  wheat, corn, barley, sorghum, and peanuts in moderation (these foods are high in phosphorus)

Synthetic vitamins are not good for you.

Foods high in phosphorus: meat, yeast, fish and seeds such as legumes, some nuts, and whole grain

Smoking and passive smoking should be avoided.

What You can do for your Mind & Spirit This is an area that is often overlooked.

Your mind is your most powerful ally in defending or regaining your health.

There are two sets of questions you may need to ask if you want good health: First, do you want to get well? Are there any things about being unwell that you enjoy? Is where you are the result of negative thinking?

And secondly, do you believe that you can get well? Is your thinking positive? Are you willing to change?

I may sound blunt, or far fetched, but what you believe and desire at the very core of your being is what will be. If you struggle with negative thinking or doubt that you can live beyond illness, you have work to do. Your mind is the first and greatest hurdle you must confront. Believe me, it is hard to change your diet, it is harder still to change your lifestyle, and it is the greatest challenge to change your thinking. But you can. And the result is worth every gram of “grit” you may have to use!

Sometimes when we speak about our spirit, we can be misunderstood because it means different things to different people. It will depend on your view of life, your philosophy, and your personal faith.

I believe that I am a spiritual being and that there is interaction between God’s Spirit and my spirit. You may see God and the Universe quiet some other way, and that’s OK, but the essence is that if our spirit is attuned to what is bigger and greater than us we engage forces and power that is beyond the expectation of most of us.

What does this have to do with healing serious illness?  Be in tune with yourself, what is around you, and what is beyond you.

Conclusion

Where to from here? Other went from illness to health, and so can I. Each of us must anser the question: How did you get where I am? Negative thinking? Environmental pollutants? Poor diet? Unhealthy lifestyle? Stress? Discouragement? Depression? Fear? Anger?  This list goes on…

My  “to do” list is short:

Believe, Think positive, eat and drink healthy. Live life to the full – it’s your life and your privilege.
